Who would have thought that being in a gym would open up so many creative ways to worship and to interact with each other? Every week we throw a party for people to discover our guest of honor, Jesus Christ. The experience begins as you walk in and discover that everyone is not just seated but are visiting at the back of the room in the New Community Café with coffee, donuts and homemade treats in hand. It's like a big family reunion where people of all ages are invited to join in the
celebration. Pastor Robert invites everyone to find a place as the celebration continues with a "kick-start" from our youth and kids. The room is full of smiles as they lead us with songs involving motions or movement that express the meaning of the song lyrics… I've got the power of Almighty God in me… I am free to run (and we run) I am free to dance (and we dance) you get the picture. The NC Worship Band then leads us to openly declare our thanks to God for His truth and His presence in our lives. There are also meaningful moments of private prayer, worship, communion and altar expressions.
Pastor Jeff Warren teaches the truth from the Bible through an effective presentation on a large 18' screen. Many parents have discovered how well the large screen holds the interest of their children. Once a month/once a series, Pastor Jeff, Chris Stull or Robert Till will teach "live" in the Gym. We also have interactive times for discussion or prayer while seated at round tables. The casual atmosphere allows our young families to meet the needs of their small children throughout the service. We are a big family - so parents, grandparents and "NC aunts and uncles" have the freedom to walk around the back of the room with babies and toddlers.
There is a variety of settings for our community to experience conversation with each other and with God:
Our 4th of July party hosted over 300 people, including 100 newcomers, for a fun night of food, fellowship and fireworks.
Mother's Day 2009 offered a great setting with decorated round tables, Professional Portraits by David Hyatt and a Parent / Child Dedication. Our message that day was a meaningful presentation by four of our women who shared insights from their personal journey of faith.
Our Old Fashioned Potluck Dinner and Baptism Celebration, where we celebrate new family members through baptism. Three or four Sundays a year, people from both services join together bring an assortment of food as they arrive to worship around the tables.
