Get to Know Richard...

Dr. Richard Mark Lee, born Dec 20, 1970, is a native of Georgia He was born again through faith in Jesus Christ at the age of 13. He was licensed to the Gospel ministry by the First Baptist Church of Lenoir City, Tennessee in July, 1990. and ordained by the West Lonsdale Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee in February, 1992.

Before becoming Pastor of FBC McKinney, Dr. Lee is served for ten years as the Senior Pastor, Sugar Hill Church: First Baptist Church, Sugar Hill, Georgia. Prior to Sugar Hill Church, he had successful associate pastorates at the First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach, Florida, Brainerd Hills Baptist Church, Chattanooga, and West Lonsdale Baptist Church, Knoxville, Tennessee.

Under Dr. Lee's leadership, Sugar Hill Baptist Church has grew from average weekly attendance of 300 to more than 1400 presently and has added impressive new facilities to accommodate that growth. In the past eight years more than 900 new Christians have been baptized. Facilitating these advancements of the Gospel, Dr. Lee has focused intensely on building an effective staff and lay leadership structure for authentic discipleship and relational evangelism.
Through Sugar Hill Dr. lee was part of planting two vibrant churches in the United States and established several mission partnerships in the North Africa and Middle East regions. Richard has contributed to a missions book published by the International Mission Board and has contributed to two devotional books and a forthcoming book on discipleship to be released in 2012 by Thomas Nelson Publishers.

Dr. Lee earned his Doctorate of Ministry in Evangelism and Church Growth from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Ky. He also holds a Master of Arts in Christian Education from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Science in Pastoral Ministries, cum laude, from Liberty University, Lynchburg, Virginia.

Second only to his reverence for Jesus Christ, Dr. Lee treasures his family. He and Wendy, a notable person in her own right and an invaluable coworker with Richard in God's vineyard, are nearing their 20th anniversary. They are blessed with two delightful daughters; Jessica is 16 and will be an incoming 11th grader, and Meredith, 14, who will be entering the ninth grade this fall.
